The Teacher
After graduating with her Bachelors in Vocal Performance in 2006, Kristi Wright has taught privately to students of all ages in various places in the western suburbs of Chicago. She primarily teaches in the classical and musical theater style, but enjoys many other styles as well. Her past and present students have won numerous awards, competitions, and scholarships including American Songbook Academy, ACDA, ILMEA, IGSMA, IHSMTA, NATS, and many others. College bound students have auditioned and been accepted to many prestigious music and theater programs such as Ball State, Baldwin Wallace, Belmont, Carnegie Mellon, Cincinnati CCM, Elon, Ithaca, Milikin, NYU Tisch, and Wheaton College.
The Director
Kristi has directed over 40 various productions in the capacities of both Head Directing, Assistant Directing, and Music Directing. As the Head Director, she has put on performances of Mozart's Impressario as well as scenes from his Le nozze di Figaro, Cosi fan tutti, and Nicolai's The Merry Wives of Windsor. After graduating with her M.M. in 2008, she began teaching, directing, and music directing for Christian Youth Theater (formerly Spotlight Youth Theater), working on shows in the Chicagoland area from Aurora, IL to Milwaukee, WI. She has been awarded for her work in her productions of Godspell, Oklahoma!, and Disney's Tarzan.
The Performer
In addition to teaching and directing, Kristi has also been a performer in the Chicagoland area. She has been seen in the Coloratura role in Argento's Postcard from Morocco, Lead Soloist in Purcell's Fairy Queen, and Yum-Yum in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado. After taking a break from performing Opera, Kristi has had the honor of returning to Musical Theater in roles such as Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, Mama Noah in Children of Eden, Joanne in Godspell, Rose in The Secret Garden, and many others.
